This classic, fan favorite, appetizer is our go-to for seasonal soirées. Everyone loves a baked brie! To add to the Fall festivities, we topped this brie with an easy-made apple and pear compote simmered in our Pear Balsamic. Infusing this fruity mix with even more Autumn flavor.
Serves 6-8
Ingredients:
1 cup diced apples
1 cup diced pears
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons Gil’s Pear Balsamic
Pinch of nutmeg
1 small wheel brie cheese
Crostini or toast points for dipping and spreading
Instructions
Place apple, pears, sugar, balsamic, and nutmeg in a small saucepan, stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a low simmer over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. Let simmer for 15 minutes or until the fruit has softened and the balsamic has reduced. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Preheat oven to 350°F and line a small oven-proof skillet or casserole dish with parchment paper.
Place the brie on the prepared skillet and place in the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the brie is soft and melty. Remove from the oven and top with the compote. Serve warm with crostini or toast points for dipping and spreading.
