Citrus might seem an unusual ingredient on pizza…but… let me convince you, it offers a bright and vibrant contrast to the classic, super cheesy, white pizza. To enhance this citrusy culinary creation we used a trio of ingredients; Key Lime Olive Oil, Garlic Balsamic Vinegar, and our Gourmet Sea Salt seasoning blend. The infused oil provides sweet and aromatic elements. The balsamic imparts rich, garlicky earthy elements. And, the seasoning blend adds savory, peppery pops.

Serves 6
Ingredients:
16 ounces raw pizza dough, thawed and divided in half
1 egg
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
2 tablespoons Gil’s Key Lime Olive Oil
3 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
1 shallot, peeled and sliced
1 ½ teaspoons Big Sur Gourmet Sea Salt Seasoning
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 cup mozzarella, grated
½ cup sharp provolone, grated
½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
3 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
3 tablespoons Gil’s Garlic Balsamic Vinegar
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Shape the dough into two, medium-sized, pizza crusts and place on baking sheets or pizza pans.
Place the egg, water, and honey in a small bowl and whisk to combine. Brush the outer 1-inch of the pizza crust with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Drizzle the center of the pizza crust with olive oil and top with garlic, shallot, salt seasoning blend, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.
Evenly top the pizzas with the lemon slices (about 4 to 5 per pizza) and sprinkle with mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan.
Place the pizzas in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the crust is golden-crisp and the cheese is bubbly.
Remove from the oven and set aside to rest for 2 minutes before topping with fresh basil and drizzling with balsamic vinegar.
