The Classic Italian Hoagie

This classic, iconic, and impressive sandwich is chock-full of cured meats, sharp cheese, zesty pickled peppers, shredded lettuce, thinly sliced red onion, and vine-ripened tomatoes—-all stuffed into a soft and toothsome hoagie roll. To harmonize all of these ingredients, we needed something bold and herbaceous. We crafted a creamy mayo spread using our Artichoke, Basil, and Almond Pesto. And! We deployed our Balsamic and Herb Dipping Sauce (an excellent hoagie sauce) as a final finishing drizzle. Not to mention, a little sprinkle of our All Purpose Seasoning, accenting those fresh veggie ingredients.


Serves 4 


Ingredients: 


1/4 cup mayonnaise 

1 large Italian sandwich loaf or 4 individual hoagie rolls 

4 ounces ham or prosciutto cotto, thinly sliced 

4 ounces salami, thinly sliced 

2 ounces capocollo, thinly sliced 

2 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced 

4 ounces provolone cheese, thinly sliced 

1/2 cup pickled cherry pepper, drained and sliced 

2-3 Campari or roma tomatoes, sliced 

1/2 cup red onions, peeled and thinly sliced 

2 cups green leaf lettuce, thinly sliced 



Instructions 


Place the mayo and pesto in a medium bowl, stir to combine. Split the loaf or hoagie rolls and generously spread both halves with the spread. Fill that sandwiches, evenly, with ham, salami, capocollo, prosciutto, provolone, cherry peppers, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. Season the veggies with a pinch or all-purpose seasoning and drizzle with balsamic and herb dipping oil before serving.
