Balsamic Braised Cabbage & Sausages
2 tablespoons Grapeseed Oil or California Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 cup yellow onion, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 head red cabbage, chopped
1/2 cup Maple Balsamic or California Fig Balsamic
1/2 cup vegetable or chicken broth
2 teaspoons salt
8 German-style sausages
1/2 cup Roasted Garlic Champagne Mustard or Champagne Jalapeño Mustard
rye bread slices
Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large pot. Once hot add onions and caraway seeds, sauté until fragrant and tender, about 3 minutes.
Add cabbage, balsamic, broth and salt, stir to combine, and bring to a simmer. Once simmer, cover, reduce heat to medium/medium-low and cook for 45-60 minutes (or until the cabbage is tender).
Grill or roast sausages according to the instructions on the package.
Serve cabbages and sausages with mustard and rye bread slices.
