Olive Oil Apple Fritters

These fritters are perfect for Fall! Crisp, seasonal apples are folded into a pillowy batter and fried to golden brown perfection using our California EVOO. Yes! Frying in olive oil is absolutely wonderful! The smoke point of extra virgin olive oil is slightly over 400°F, making it a great choice for all your frying and high-heat cooking needs.

Serves 6-8

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon San Fran Sea Salt

2/3 cup whole milk

2 eggs

3 cups diced apples

1 cup cinnamon sugar

Instructions

Place flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl, whisk to combine. Add the milk and eggs to the bowl and continue to whisk to combine the batter. Add the diced apples and stir until well blended. Fill a large Dutch oven with 3-inches of olive oil and heat over medium-high heat until the temperature reaches 350°F. Using a scoop or heaped tablespoon measure, carefully dollop the batter into the hot oil, and fry, working in small batches, for 5 minutes or until cooked through and crisp. Remove the fritters from the oil using a slotted spoon and set aside to drain on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate. Once all the fritters have fried, heartily sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before serving.
